Hi There, I have a question, do i need cats to be fitted to my exhausts ,for the sva emissions, on my locost kit car with bob engine.:

As I understand it, the BOB came out early 1995. So you're going to need a catalytic converters to meet emissions.

Any post 95 engine needs a cat IIRC . What is the age of your engine? Hence Toms question

Ford engine numbers give date of birth, the Burton catalogue has the codes, that will gI've year and month it was built, IVA manual will specify the emissions required to pass.

Wouldn't a 97 engine be P or R reg.
J reg would be 91
