Mot and dash

Hi all i think my car is finally ready to go back on the road ..

Basically what is the minimum i can get away with on mot in terms of dash lights as a few bits have changed

i no longer have handbrake light as told not required and did not work .... This right ?

have a full beam light on dash .. is this needed ?

have a brake fluid level warning light not sure it works can i remove it ?

The car is on a E reg if it makes any odds

Thanks

You have to have a working brake fluid level light, see part G of http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_360.htm. Wiring to the handbrake is just a convenient way of testing it for tintops. I have a non-latching push button on my dash.

I'm rationalising my dash at the moment too, having moved the sidelight/ headlight switch and low/high beam switch onto column stalks.

Does anyone know if it's mandatory to have a light on the dash to show the sidelights are on ?

AFAIK, the brake fluid warning lamp is not required for the MOT but if one is fitted, then it must work correctly.
You'll need the high beam warning lamp and a fog light warning lamp, as well as hazard/indicator warnings.

Cheers got all them working ill remove the brake level warning light then if it does not work ...

My headlights are now working but would appear dipped beam stays on when main is switched on ..

I realize the lights will get hot but would this fail an mot ? as i will most likely never need the lights let alone full beam and if im told some older lights do this anyway ?

no, usually the back-lights for the instruments show this
