ISTR the Black Rover 2 wire Temperature sensor (nb they are colour coded) has the same characteristic as that used by a lot of aftermarket gear.

It is a blue sensor it does not seem to read correctly as it shows 80 degrees C after just starting.
Would this one work

this one is blue and is the sensorfor the guage. The other one on the engine is a coolant sensor for the ecu to control fuelling and is normally black.

Yes--- the Black one.
Fuelparts do them loads on net & eBay for around a £10 search on Rover 25 sensor.
The Rover Rave CD workshop manual has the resistance -temperature curve for this sensor.

All the later models 25/45/75 only had one (black) sensor as the ECU drives the gauge which is the indirect cause of a lot of cooked engines as the ECU keeps the gauge planted on N between 75 and 118c..

There are also green and brown types from older older models.

Had loads of problems with Fuelpart sensors, might be why they've gone bust??
