The following are diagrams that I did for the Premier Loom to Sierra switches (the colour codes marked 'P' are the Premier Loom colours,
the ones marked 'S' are Sierra). If these are any help as a starting point, send me a U2U with your e-mail address and I'll send
you the Powerpoint versions.

there appears nothing wrong with the wiring diagrams above......but the classic mistake of using the output of the main beam relay to give the main
beam warning lamp its feed. Fine, but you have a wire running the length of the car for no reason. It is much better to take the warning lamp feed
directly from the switch that "triggers" the relay, then you only have about 12" of wire to be used.

You may well be right, but the Premier Loom is already wired up to take the feed from the output of the relay, so in my case it was easier to use what
was there than to run a new, short, wire direct from the switch.
I guess that the other reason for not doing it the way thay you suggest is that if the relay fails, the headlights will not come on but you will still
get the main beam warning light. The way that its wired means that there is nothing but wire between the warning light and the headlight bulb, so you
can be fairly sure that the lights are actually on if the bulb on the dashboard is lit.

to play devils advocate...
i am not sure that knowing that when the main beam warning light on the lights are working is all that useful. if you dont know the main beams are on
(because its day light) then you dont need them.....if its dark you should be able to tell if they are working. besides the warning lamp working
independent of the relay is useful for fault diagnostics, because if its lit the switch is fine so your looking at a relay fault.
I also didnt know that the premier loom was wired that way, but then i would never use their loom. all of my cars (kits and customs) have been wired
using my own loom for which there is an article or link to one on this site.
it has occurred to me to do an addition to my article using a peg-board layout for a typical "7" style car, and using lucas wiring
colours. however i am not convinced that doing that would encourage any more folks to give it a try. the fact is some folks like to build their cars
and some like to assemble them. me i am a builder.

This is my first build and I knew nothing when I started other that what I learnt years ago on my first car (a clapped out Fiesta).
I know a lot more now and if I ever get around to a second build (both SWMBO and daughter have their orders in..) then I quite fancy doing my own loom
from scratch. Once you start looking at them a circuit at a time, they don't look that difficult. One of the reasons that the Premier Loom
looks so complicated is that its wired for several different options and switch types.
