Cant communicate with Megajolt

I cant get my pc to talk to my megajolt, ive tried several cables and several usb to serial adapters its just not having it,

the reason i want to look at it is my Acewell dash is reading my RPM about 1200 RPM higher than it is, and occasionally 200rpm without the engine running

Ideas guys

What cables have you tried?

Did any of the cables come with a driver CD or are you using other drivers from the web?

I think you have to configure the USB to be port 1 if you are using a usb to serial

I have an old laptop with a serial port - been keeping it for when I get my megasquirt installed, your welcome to borrow it if you run out of ideas with usb convertors.

I will try & plug it in tomorrow to make sure it still works.

Only problem I have ever had is with COM port
Either its floating and changes ever time or is using a COM port number higher than 10
