Koso DB02 warning lights stoopid question

Hi there,

Sorry for the stupid question - electrics aren't in my comfort zone!

I have the warning light module for my koso db02 dash. I understand the warning lights on the left side - I take the wire from the donor loom, connect it to the relevant red, yellow, blue or green wire for whichever light I require, and all of the lights have a common earth.

On the right side though, the red wire is described as 'common power' and each individual wire is 'negative signal'. how do I connect the warning lights from the donor loom to this? (you can't just connect the common power to earth and power the lights like the other side - I checked!)

Thanks

Common power will be ignition +12v I'm pretty sure.
Then your switches/sensors need to 'switch' the negative side of the bulb for it to light up.
You need to find out if your donor sensors switch the live or negative before trying to do anything.

Looking at the wiring diagrams, I think they all have switches 'downstream' of the indicator. So much for a simple plug and play dash solution! why couldn't they make both sides the same

some sensors are usually 'switch earth' typically those screwed into the block like oil pressure warning

Surely that would have all the warning lights lit permanently?

I agree with this
My Escort/Fiat based Striker has for example

Positve switched
Headlight warning
Indicators

Negative switched
Reverse light
Oil pressure
Water temperature

And some others that don't come to my mind right now, so it's no surprising that you have the provision for both
