communication between fuel sender and gauge
How can you fix a mis-communication between a fuel sender and fuel gauge? (in other words: how can you correct a non-corresponding Ohm's
resistance between the two?)

Good question. When my tank is full the gauge reads empty, and when the tank is full it reads 1/4 full!

Northy , is your tank unit assembled upside down? sounds like the float is acting in reverse. Had this problem with my car using matching gauges and
senders, had downloaded instructions from gauge suppliers which I followed with similar results to you . Took off and turned potentiometer upside down
, gauge now works correctly. Sorry can't help Mave

Its sounds like to me(no expert) that the gauge requires a different resistance sender.
Option 1 find the correct sender.
Option 2 find the correct resistance required to make the gauge read what you want it to read.
Alter the total value or resistance of your sender by adding resistance in parallel / series with the gauge.

If you are using the greengauges sender and dial, the instructions are wrong and show the box that the float arm connects to the wrong way up.

Seems the Greengauges web site is or was wrong, would advise anyone using thier gauges to test sender unit with a multimeter before installing .

I've got one of the ball in a tube type senders (that look like a tube) and a Green guages fuel gauge. They work on totally different
resistances, and the opposite way round!!
I'm thinking of taking the guage apart and seeing if I can alter it to match the sender.
Does anyone know how a guage works internally, and if it could be altered?

We are calculating the arc movement and amending the arm to suit the gauge... generating full movement on the pickup when float moves from top to
bottom of the tank...
