Telemetrix gauges - reading incorrectly

I have bought a set of telemetrix gauges and i have fitted them. they look nice but when i put power to the electrics they read wrong (well 2 of them do).

the rev counter shows 3000rpm when the engine is off. this has been reduced to 1000 rpm by adjusting the potentiometer, but this has no more adjustment left.

do i require some additional form of resistance between the coil and the gauge?

the fuel gauge reads full when empty and empty when full. changing the leads between terminals on the fuel sender does not change the readings. is there something i can do or do i have to accept it?

the maufacture does not answer any emails so tech help line is crap.

can any one help??

where did you get them from?

try europa for tech advice, they're usually pretty good for customer service. greengauges do stuff with the guts afaik, so should also be useful to ask

I believe the Telemetrix fuel sender is 10 ohms at empty - 180 ohms full, ie low resistance reading empty, high resistance full. Ford, for example, works the other way low reading full, high reading. Its not a polarity thing so reversing the the wires isn't going to help.

but bending the float arm 180 degress so that if you're looking at it at the arm is to the left of the sender, you bend it and its on the right should (i think) do the trick)

I Bought the correct sender with the fuel gauge, but i have used the viccy green wiring loom which is based around the ford sierra. i would assume that Brook_lands comment is prob right and the ford thing has a lot to do with it. the sides to the trans tunnel are in and it is very difficult to pass anything down it let alone tie it to some thing. looks like i am stuck with it.

i am off to buy some ballast resisters to see if this hels reduce the revs

IIRC the sender can be fitted on the vertical brass coloured rod two ways. So turning it over should cure your reversed fuel reading.

As for the tacho, is it possible it is picking up pulses from the cooling fans.

thanks clive

the obvious oftern stares you in the face. i never thought to check if the float had been fitted on the right way, i just followed the diagramme and assumed. (Asumption - the mother of all F*** ups)

my only worry is that when i fitted the sender i checked that the tank was leak free with water. now it is in the car and the body panels are on i worry about a leak.

Let us know how you get on sorting the rev counter as i think mine may be doing the same. I think my fuel sender was doing the same, but ive been busy with other bits so havent bothered checking the dials really. But thanks for the idea on the fuel sender.
