Heater problems
Not locost, but my boss drives a Freelander and the blower control has a fault.
When it stops working he takes out the fuse and puts it back in, same fuse, and it works again.
Any ideas ?

Overheating protection cut-out?
If so, some possible causes are a blocked filter that reduces the air flow through the motor, or the fan itself sticking a bit and causing the motor
to work too hard (try spinning it by hand - it should be easy).
Apart from that - no idea!

IIRC, the Freelander has a body computer that controls much of the electronics, including the lights and window winders. It probably controls the
heater as well. Pulliong the fule may wipe the memory and re-enable the fan.
It is likely that the ECU tests have found a fault with the heater and so has switched it off. The best bet is to let if fail again and don't
pull the fuse then go to a dealer and get them to plug their diagnostic tool in. They should be able to tell you what the fault code is and so what
the problem is. You are relying on the dealer being able to use a computer / understand the message though.

Don't know about the Freelander but Rover cars of this era use two types of heater control panel -- if it has plain round knobs it
won't work but if it has it a full BMW supplied ATC panel it can be made do a full self diagnostic just by pressing the buttons in the right
order. If not it will need a TestBook session.
