Rad fan always on!
As soon as i connect the battery the fan switches on! (hence not switched by temp sensor) I have a sensor in the top of the rad and i thought that
that was my water temp. Do i wire the rad fan power through the sensor as if it is a thermostat?
If so am i right in saying that i take water temp from the top of the rad, and then oil temp from the top of the thermostat housing?

Rad fan switch and water temp sensor (for guage) are usually 2 different things. Fan should be wired through the switch, possibly using a relay.
Temp sensor for the guage just wires direct to the guage and usally works by changing resistance to earth as the temp rises/falls.
The oil temp sensor is usually fitted in or around the sump and again wires direct to the oil temp gauge working in the same way as the water temp
sensor.

Hi Chaz
Your rad mounted sensor is a switch that is activated (the contact is made) when the water reaches the pre-set temperature. You will need a power
input to the switch and on the other side an output that is activated when the contacts close. This should go to the coil of a suitably rated relay.
You then take the output from the relay directly to the fan motor. I hope that helps and that I haven't misunderstood your question.

is it a new swtich? (could be knackered)
can't remember what I have on my crossflow but think it has 2 terminals and one of t hem may be earhted - could you have wired the switch
wrong?
if you have a dvm, you can testt it by boiling it in a saucepan of water (I did as I was curious at what temp it closed and onpened).

Mate are u using the zetec thermos housing??
If so the switch in the bottom is the temp sender and the one in the top is the fan switch. Im using the rad mounted fan switch on mine.

The oil temp is t'd off near the filter if u have it connected.
