LED indicator lamps

Hi guys and girls,

I have replaced my side/brake lights with some smart looking LED ones, and they work fine....

So I thought I would change the rear indicator lamps as well.... so I bought my amber LED lamps (19 LEDS) and fitted them. But they dont seem to light up.

Now I have tried to research why they wouldn't work but im having trouble...... do i need a load resister or something?

Regards,

Robert

You shouldn't need a resistor load to make them light up (only to regulate to the proper flash rate). They are however polarity concious(sp) check for this first and then if your sure its ok, while they are still connected use a test bulb or meter to check for power at them.

Personally I wouldn't use the type you are describing - their narrow angle of view really makes visiblility a problem in daylight.
Here's a thread to get some more info http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=52373

Get the Luxeon Star variety - much better but not without their limitations

You will need an electronic flaher unit to power up an led setup - a conventional one won't give you the correct flashing rate.

Hiya,

Read the post about the wiring loom, some one has posted the web address at the end. I found some cheaper things on their site that I had already obtained form other places.
