Weber alpha ECU to Megasquirt/spark????
I need to replace my Weber Alpha ECU with Megaspark or magasquirt (or another ECU if easy enough to map on own laptop).
I've got a few questions:
Can I use MSquirt with carbs to start with and then easily switch to injection at a later date, or should I just use megaspark?
I already have EDIS (I think that’s the right initials for the coil) and engine sensors fitted i.e. engine temp, air temp, TPS, crank sensor, can
these be calibrated to be used with MS as my wiring loom is a very neat install and it would be a lot easier to swap the ECU's over (okay
different connectors but easy enough)??
If I buy a prebuilt MS system and download an existing map for a similar spec engine is it just a case of connect sensors, calibrate them if necessary
and away I go?
Cheers
Alex

Have you had trouble with alpha - is megasquirt better? Why change?

As I've gone for bike carbs I can't get anyone to tune it, weber only give their software to approved dealers and they won't touch
bike carbs! as the engine is currently standard it works really well, however, as i'm looking to either tune the engine or swap to another
engine I need a flexible ECU that I can initially set up.
For a standard engine the alpha is the best from the box as they are mapped for specific engines.
