I am using a transistor circuit out of the Megasquirt to give a signal with a 12v feed though a relay coil to give sufficient power. Without the 12v
feed the tacho did not work.
There are various options in the manual depending on what type of tacho you have
Summer's here!!!!

You "should" be able to get a RPM signal from either side of the (-) off the coil you might need a diode to stop the rev counter
"back feeding" any odd signal that might upset your spark signal from the edis unit.
Expect "MikeRJ" to be along soon, looking for an argument about it though........ seeing as he is my bad fart smell just now, that just
seems to follow me everywhere, I must get the wife to cut cabbage out of my diet....
Perhaps your foul stench is indeed fading, took me a while to find this thread
I'm sure that you simply forgot to mention that by taking the RPM reading from one side of the coil pack that the tachometer will be reading 1/2
the RPM that the engine is actually doing (assuming it's configured for a 4 cylinder engine).
To derive a tachometer feed from a 4 cylinder coil pack usually requires a few diodes and a resistor to combine the signal from both of the coils.
Have a look at this thread but it would probably be simpler to use the MegaSquirt
trigger output in this case.

any ideas where to start? then ill try the wiring methods described in the other threads
thanks in advance as always!

And as usual Mark, the length of your highly polished brass neck never fails to amaze me.

does your ETB gauge allow you to multiply/divide the input signal ? as that would help if your getting an odd reading after connection.
Well, being a helpfull kind of chap I actualy took the time to check the ETB website, and noted the ones I could find could be configured for 4, 6 or
8 cylinders, so they can indeed multiply/divide the signal. Unfortunately this doesn't help the OP as it would have to be able to be configured
for 2 cylinders to work of half a coil pack.

Funny also that you didn't reply to Ian/scoobylav in This thread (or did you
"forget), after another vain attempt of yours at crap stirring as usual, time you crawled back under the rock you scuttled out of, if all you
want to do is cause trouble instead of helping people, mind you usual double standards at work.
As is happens I haven't checked back there until recently, but Scoobylav was clearly unhappy with the way the thread was going and as I
don't take enjoyment in annoying decent members of this forum I will leave it be.
On the other hand I noticed you didn't actualy clarify whether "your" ECU is essentialy a megasquirt with the injection bits
removed.
Seems to me you love dishing it out, but but aren't so keen to be on the receiving side.

If I'm not upsetting you then why the constant digs at me in all your posts? Grow up.

Back to the real problem if possible, Graeme, did you manage to get this working? If you did would you let me know what you did as I face the same
situation.
Thanks
