Handbrake Wiring Woes
Hi All,
Encountered my 1st problem wiring my car.
I was going to use the handbrake warning light on the digidash for the handbrake warning lamp and low fluid lamp but...
The digidash lamp only has a +ve feed in and must earth internally in order for the warning lamp to light.
As my handbrake switch only has 1 wire coming from it, it grounds to earth to when applied.
This aint gonna work is it.
Do I need to get a separate handbrake warning lamp or is there an easy way round it?
Though about using a relay, but it's all complicated enough as it is!

you dont need a handbrake warning light
you need a way of testing the light bulb for low brake fluid from the drivers seat

don't you dare go drilling holes in that dash...........or switch panel!
a relay would appear to be the most logical way round it unless you can get the handbrake to push a seperate plunger switch to switch a positive
feed.

I'm waiting for you to volunteer your services before I connect the battery any way.
Looks like spaghetti at the mo and it doesn't help having limited colours!

Graeme, are you sure you don't need a hb warning light?
The digidash flashes all the lights when you fire it up so that would check the bulb and that leaves me only having to wire the master cylinder which
will work with the digidash if that's the case.

Cheers, easier to see in pic format.
Rather than the out from the coil going to earth, do you mean to the single wire coming from the handbrake that will earth when the handbrake is
on?

you dont need a hand brake warning light its just a means of testing the bulb, so as long as you have a way of testing the low level warning light
from the drivers seat thats fine

So after all that, is it really worth having the light coming on every time I pull the handbrake?
Will the digidash initial flash all the lights test suffice for SVA (as long as it also comes on when the fluid gets low)???
