CVH Turbo escort wiring problem
Hey all,
started digging through the loom of a friends Dutton yesterday which has recieved a ford RS turbo CVH engine (late one I think)
I have a haynes manual which clearly states that there's an ignition module and an EFI module, though I can only find one ECU looking box, the
wiring goes correctly for ignition, only thing is there are far more wires attached to it than the manual states, things like ignition go in there but
also TPS Aircharge temp etc etc etc.
someone has cut of the 3 wires from the AFM in the distribution block, and I can't find those wires on the ECU end.
can it be that I have overlooked a type which had only one controll box?
Oh it's mechanical KE jetronic injected btw.
anyone can shed some light,
If Lucas made guns, Wars wouldn't start either.

Could it be a fiesta turbo engine?
They are efi rather than mfi like the escort rs turbo.

Like jamdojeef say's sounds like an EFI model, in which case you will only have the EEC, (don't know if its the IV type, but very well
maybe, Ford used it on loads of there models). The AFM would be, probabley, on pins 25/26/27 & 46 for four wire, or pins 26/43, & 46 for three
wire, don't quote me on that, but its a good place to start looking. HTH Ray

No the engine is mechanical KE jetronic injected.
But maybe the bloke gave us the wrong ecu.
I will dive into it a little more.
there's only 25 pins on the ecu and 25 pins in the wirning loom connector not fully wired btw

Well that puts the EEC IV out of the picture, as that has 60 pins, (though not all are used). You could always try Fords for info, I needed details of
the EEC wiring for my car, sent me a huge pile of info, items, wiring, test proceedures, the whole nine yards, and never charged a penny. HTH Ray.

there should be 2 plugs one for the ignition big silver ecu with 3 symbols on it.
and a black ecu fuel. if you have the fiesta turbo ech it will have a code of ofab or ofac on it.if you need some pics of the wiring i could take some
pics so you no where they am on the loom. ill look where the 3 wires come from on my engine and let you no

Have a look on fiestaturbo
Some of the contributors on there seem well up on wiring the different ignition modules.
Try here.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

that would be very nice.
what you told is what I thought, there's a second ECU plug in the box of bits and those wire's are the same colours (a few at least) as
the diagram in the haynes manual says.
could you make a few piccies of the loom and also of the to brain boxes?

hi heres the pics there not very good ones cus all the looms been wraped in red tape. but if you need any more pics let me no. the loom comes from the
fuse box its about 1in dia then it branches off to all the plugs so if you have a loom it should be on there.
adam
this is the plug for the afm its on the left looking at the engine but there is a pin one on the right hand side aswell.
this is the afm/fuel dis
this is the ingnition ecu early ones had colour codes on them
this is the fuel ecu

Ah there's the problem,
That black box didn't came with the engine......
have to get him to look one up then!
is there any chance that there was a Combi ECU for both fuel and ignition for 1 engine using KE jetronic (mechanical injection)???
this is the only question that still remains in my mind, because there seem to be a lot more wires going into our single colour coded ecu than the
drawing in the haynes manual says.
