headlight relay wiring

Hi guys just came in from the garage, im just wiring in the headlamp realys and need bit of advice. what have you guys used for pin 86? have you used a perm live or an ignition live? on most tin tops you can flash the mainbeam but not switch it on unless you got the ignition on. im using a luego loom with my own relays, using the late sierra switches.

any help would be great,

rob

Personally I would use a switched feed - how many times will you want to flash your lights when the ignition is off anyway?
The only permanent feed should be your sidelights imo.

Nope, just sidelights as far as I know

Watch out with the Sierra switches. The provide a live feed for side lights but earth feeds for Main and dip relays, getting this wrong can let a lot of smoke out of the wires and the switch!

And the hazards.
As for the head lights you'll prolly find (depending on which sierra stalk you have) that they're set up to switch the negative side of the coil (well mines are but I made my own loom). There was a thread with pics and diagrams of the sierra loom stalk pinouts somewhere.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
