VDO fuel sender hole size

i'm making the fuel tank and i want to have the hole for the sender made before i weld it up so i dont have to cut a hole later on when it's all welded.

i looked around and found thet for a VDO sender you need a 43mm hole in the tank, but for a top mounted tube sender you need a 63mm hole...

does anyone have a side-mounted VDO sender and knows what size hole is on the tank?

should i just go for 43-45mm? i dont mind it being too large as i can compensate with the mounting disk later on.. what i do mind is it being too small

cheers
