Starter Terminals

We have what I believe is a late seirra starter motor which is currently being wired. There are three terminal on it, main M8 power input, spade terminal which drives the solenoid and a seperate M5 terminal next to the power input.
Does anyone know what the purpose of this terminal is??

Many thanks,
Andy

Its possibly a 12v supply to something when cranking. Some older cars with ballast resistor coils had this system.
Check it for continuity with the 8mm terminals.
Steve.

It doesn't appear to have continuity with the 8mm terminal so that rules out what I was planning on doing anyway. Dont really know why i didnt chack that initially!Oh well.

Cheers
