Which kit ???
Hi Guys . I am sorry because I'm sure this topic will have been done to death somewhere !!
I am most interested in any info on Inboard Kits for Bike engined Mk/MNR/Mac1 or competitor. I will have approx £7000 to build a seven replica
including the engine. I will use the car for mainly road use and it will be my first project.
Do I need an Inboard ?
Will my budget be enough ?
I want a good quality kit. Any advice greatly appreciated.

read postes on here useing the serch bit and stay well away from gts he rips people off.
£7000 will make you a good car and you will have a great time building it.

That's a pretty healthy budget, you'll be able to build a good kit with 7k ^__^

Thanks for replies. I realise I haven't posted the question in the best section.
The part complete kit could be value but I would then need to re order the bodywork as orange wasn't my favourite !
Reading it made me realise that the component cost can spiral very easily !

One of the obvious choices would be the MNR. Main benefit for you is that they are reasonably local so if you need some advice, pics, coffee then you
can pop across.
You may be able to build one for £7K but you would have to shop around for your bits to make sure you got the best deals.
I can't comment about the other suppliers but I couldn't really find too many faults with MNR and they always get a good report on
here.
I would have a chat with some of the other builders on here who are building the latest incarnation of the INDY and also the MAC#1 is worth checking
out as they are only at Sheffield.

Your £7k budget can be achieved easily - if you set out (determined) to build it for £5.5k, then along the way, some things will end up costing more
than promised, some shiny bits will catch your eye, you may want to pay out rather than do a couple of bits yourself and then there's a few
extra quid for the SVA, road tax and insurance that all have to be found and paid for pretty much straight away.

do your research,visit the manufacturers, talk to the owners and if poss get yourself a test ride, 7k is a pretty good budget but as Steve pointed out
its very easy to get upgrade fever and overspend .
I would say a carb blade is just about the easiest BEC home build but an FI engine is a little easier to set up for SVA emmissions with a power
commander but will be a little more cost wise.
which ever car you choose I'm sure you will be happy with, Oh and welcome to locost builders

Agree with Rich and Steve, 7k good starting budget.
Beware though, bling bling brings empty pockets.
Get a deffo test ride, most builders on here will love the chance to take a newbie out. Even though you might have poo stains afterwards  .

I started out happily with a 7k budget..but it has since shiftet alot, and looks more like 10K. It is so easy to get too eager, and upgrade all the
time. I had some nice XR4 brakes for free, but surfed the internet, and suddenly I had ordered Wilwoods...Budget for my engine was 1500£..then I payed
Malc at Yorkshire a visit, spent 2k on engine, and close to 1k to make it work in the car. List goes on..
So I guess with a lot of discipline it could work..I am just absolutely spineless..
It also depends on your workshop. I had to go out and spend a lot on tools, because I hadnt brought any from abroad.
Good luck with your build. I Think MK looks the best, but have heard good things about the MNR chassis...Its always a compromise..

With 7k you could build a locost with pretty much any car you like.
