'94 Fireblade RRR CDI/ECU

Incidentially, does anyone know how many pins my CDI unit should have? I have the part code MWO so should be a 94 item but bould like to check.

I read your other post, but couldn't help you as I don't know the later Blade looms, but luckily Andy did, but as a thought to your general problem solving, have you considered getting an earlier Blade loom (at least for testing of your systems). You should be able to get one for around £50, but if you really haven't got the money in your KC budget then thats fair enough, but my fear (if I was you) would be that one problem leads onto another.

Which might end up costing you money.

If I were you I would buy a correct loom even if you are skint - get yours working/check all systems - and then sell it again. That way for the sake of a little lost profit or postage (say £10 or so) you could of solved all your problems and checked things like extra wires in plugs and so on...

Please don't think I'm having a go - I hope it doesn't sound like that - I was just trying to see things and offer a more lateral way off thinking!

Cheers,
Steve

I was thinking about that, but there doesn't seem to be anymore looms of that year about at the moment. I was just a bit concerned about Andy's comment on how there shouldn't be the pins in the CDI unit for extra wires, when mine has all 16 pins (MWO - '94 part code). Thank you for the advice, didn't think you were having a go at all. Any information/suggestions are welcome in times of need.

I'll try and find out about a spare loom for you and send you a U2U if I have any luck.

It's a RRR model isn't it?

Steve

ETA - the first avenue I tried was no luck, but I'll find out tomorrow about the other...

You're a star. That would be invaluable. It's just the number of pins on the CDI that's confusing me now.

As you can see in my pics in archive the plug only has 8 or 9 wires actually being used BUT the cdi unit has all the pins present, ps mine is the early twin headlamp model 893cc, if you need any more info i also have a haynes manual if you want any info

cheers colin

Thanks for that Colin. That's sorted that worry. Your CDI has a very close part code to mine too so I should be able to rely on that. Thank you for your time and help, I owe you a pint.
