Acewell Magnet

I got my Acewell yesterday - thanks Russbost.

Does anyone have tips or pics of how and where you have installed the magnet and sensor.

Thanks

Stu

I would recommend installing on a driveshaft or c/v (obviously not possible with live axle!) if you can. If installing on the prop you need to divide your wheel rotation speed by the diff ratio to set speedo correctly - best way to get accurate tyre diameter is to mark the tyre & rollthe car thro' one full rotation, measure distance travelled. Another advantage of installing on driveshaftis that as rotational speeds are lower the magnet is more likely to stay put!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Thanks Russ

I'll have a look at the driveshaft as the 1st option.

Presumably the best way to fit it is to drill and tap a hole for the magnet to go in?

Once it's installed I'll check the speedo accuracy against my satnav

I cut the threaded bit off the magnet, then araldited it to the wheel rim

Stuck mine on top of the UJ next to the engine on the propshaft with araldite after hacksawing the thread off. Rolled the car forward one revolution of the back wheel and divided that by diff ratio (3.62) and it reads 2mph over Sorted.
