LED lights
some months back i followed a kit car on the A1, it had round led rear lights with the indicator lights all around the outside and the tail- brake in
the middle, anyone seen them 4 sale or anything simular ??

Stafford Vehicle Bits had a display with all sorts of led rear lights on at the Auto Jumble at the NEC. Its worth a call.

we're considering them on ours. However, as they are pretty new, we are not sure they are SVA compliant.
They look pretty good and use lots less power and last much longer, are lighter, smaller, brighter. But more expensive... typically 5 times more than
comparable lamp!!!

They use them on the busses round here...... wait for one to stop long enough!! or when they are sleeping at the end of the route. Heard of one lad
who nicked a set for his trailer .........now for the real "clever bit" he lives down two houses down the road from the bus
depot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bright or what

They are made by Hella and have all the proper e numbers etc and i have a set for mine

helps working for a bus company - can get any light cluster i fancy, fire extinguishers, seat frames, seat bases, seat covers, foam for seats, guages,
bulbs, random stuff, nuts, bolts, washers, pipes, hoses - anything really 
and all free - hehehe

Did he convert the rest of his car to 24V to match the lights as well!

I think they have something like it on the new Primera rear lights, godawful looking car though.

production of primera is next to nothing, cant sell em, now the frog eyed micra is another story alltogethor,
think ive seen the lights im havin......

Has yours passed SVA with 'em on?
We are very close to purchasing some... maybe (depends on answer!) am calling SVA man tomoz for an answer... tho' like you say they have E1 on
them!

After speaking to Mr Sva today he confirmed that LED lights are SVA compliant and designed for the purpose. It's not important that they are E
marked so long as they resemble the lamp equivalent. Therefore, the LED 'rings' designed for tail lights are not to be used for brake
lights due to light intensity differences. He did comment however on correct placement which is easier to measure than lux output!
Therefore, I reckon we're into that too... like Jon says lighter, cheaper (longterm) more vibration resistant, lower power consumption etc
etc... just make sure they're sealed on properly otherwise someone'll nick 'em...

I actually saw those bus LED lights this morning - I was actually awake when walking from Liverpool St Station to the office - and they are amazingly
bright.
Bit large for my narrow wings, though.

but they was £45 a pair not the £55 it says on thier site, go to "more lights" there not far down the page, look better in the flesh, they
have some on counter powerd up, got some LED side repeaters too

Just a word of warning about the LED's
After enquiring about the LED tail lights, I was informed that the LED's themselves need to be mounted at 90 degrees from horizontal or close to
it. This is due to the angle of visibility of the LED it is NOT like a lamp as it has a direction of intensity. Not sure what the angle is but it is
nominally inclusive 25 deg depending upon what ype of LED is used. I know you can get wide angle LED's but unsure whether these are or not?

Strange, never really noticed any LED lamps until this thread started, now I see them everywhere!
Today it was on the back of a 2002 Range Rover - my, they were bright!
