fuel Gauge and sender
I have been encountering a problem with my fuel gauge readings.
I have smiths Telemetric gauges and fuel sender, this was all wired up so the gauge got power when the ignition was on which made it difficult when
filling up, so I wired it into the switch and direct live, that way I can have the gauge active while filling up.
This has been working fine for the last six months or so. Recently the gauge seems to be saying some untruths at time. I therefore decided to remove
the sender and do some tests. Holding the sender arm to the maximum shows a full tank on gauge, minimum show empty tank.
I then decide to check all the connections, all seemed fine but what I have noticed is this if I disconnect either of the wires going to the sender or
gauge and re connect them the gauge shows slightly higher than before (about 1/8th of a tank) this stays until I turn off the switch and turn it back
on again, then it reverts to the lower reading.
Can anyone shed any light onto why this is happening?
I wouldn’t mind buying a new sender and gauge if I knew it would cure the problem, but I’m not convince it will.

I always know when my tank is full, I can't get any more fuel in. Sorry can't help with your problem

Wow Rusty you're either rich or have a very small fuel tank.

Filling my tank is labourously slow, the angle of my filler neck means I have to "rest" the nozzle on the filler cap hole and fill it
slowly. The only indication I get that the tank is full, is either a "gurgle" which is really hard to hear, or a rear panel covered in
fuel!
