Ignition barrel key code question

I am building a single seater, and planning on using a fiat cinq steering rack.

I wanted to use the steering column and other bits from the cinq - but i do not like the stalks, so want to bits from a fiat seicento instead - i think it has better ones....

If the key for the steering column is coded, am i still able to use it, without using the ecu etc.

Or am i best looking for a different alternative.

the coding relates to the ecu only,if your not using that then no worries

As said ^^^

The chip/code reading is usually done via a ring fitted around the barrel and separate from the ignition lock/switch.
