zetec help please

hi have just had my first autograss race this season yesterday, i no this is a kit car forum but you guys seems to have more knolege on the etec conversions. have put a 1.8 zetec from mk6 escort into my mk3 autograss car and beleve my alt is not charging, i do no have the blue wire conected, does this need to be to fire up the alt? i dont have much off the orginall wiring left. so if i do need it whats the best thing to do with it? can i just put it on a 12v switch feed? does it need to be on constant on just for a few seconds for the alt to get going? or am i going down the wrong wroute? if i cant sort it its ok cause a battery will last me the day , but be nice to to have charge it up before raceday everytime

You need to conect a switched live to a light bulb. The other terminal to the alt.

When you turn the ign on the light will come on and then go of when the car is running.

You can check its working by sticking a meter across the battery, it should read just over 14v
