Solder WHAT TO BUY??

been looking for some Solder TODAY
to do my car wireing as i have a gas iron, but when i looked on ebay there was so much choice?what is the best stuff to buy?
i have a maplins close to me i can also try.
(IM USEING A PORTASOL PRO-50 PORTABLE GAS SOLDERING IRON)

Just buy a reel of solder with the flux already in it from maplins. They will advise you....

Yes, but fluxed solder.
Something like N34BJ from Maplins.

B&Q still have real solder, it is still legal to sell it for electronic repair ----- in B7Q all the solder is kept in the plumbing section

Good - all the stuff in Maplins et al is Pb free and is a right b@stard to get it to flow properly.

Is the B&Q stuff flux cored though? as it's for plumbing.

Will this stuff stop the tip of my soldering iron going black. ( ps any tips on how to remove this ? )

It is cored electronic repair solder --- B&Q just consider all solder and soldering irons are part of plumbing department.

could not get real solder in b&q today tryed my local and they say they dont do lead solder any more
