Plea for a hand with my loom
Hi Guys and girls,
this is a request for a hand with my loom, which is now working fine but looks like a pot of food colouring and a spagetti making machine have made
sweeeeeeet sweet love all over my car...
Everything works great, but its just a maze of wires, most of which are too long I think, or need a major reroute to get it wrapped and
SVA'd.
I'm in Liverpool and the wife is away till Friday lunch, so any evening would be good.
I was feeling fine when I watched it being put in, but now I'm pretty anxious as I think it's going to involve a lot of cutting and
shortening of stuff - childs play for anyone with half a brain but I just freeze up each time I go in to start working on it!
My SVA is next Thursday, but I think I may have to postpone it due to an issue I'm having with a different supplier...
Either way, help would be very gratefully received. Any locosters able to rally to my aid?

Just work it through, one circuit and one wire at a time. Shorten it, and then test whatever the wire was you did. When I shortened/spliced my BEC
loom, I tested everything worked after I cut and shortened a wire. You soon rattle through them and get to know your loom that bit better....! Good
luck!

One wire at a time and you cant go wrong. If everything works now, just take your time and test everything as you go as well.

Thanks,
I took your advise and started at the headlights and began working backwards... much eaiser! I was starting with all the relays and stuff and it was
twisting my noodle!
I'll keep on plodding and see where I get stuck.

yep - take it steady and work on one function/wire at a time e.g. left front indicator and so on.
you have the advantage of purpose built loom and wiring diagram too - in my case, it was hacked up escort loom with one or more wire joins, each of
different colour os it was a huge mental hurdle to overcome to start tidying up.

Nice job on that. I am in the same boat: I have figured out where they go, I just need to add a couple more diodes to stop circuit feedback, crimp a
few things and figure out where to mount everything. I still have a mess and get stressed just looking at it!!
