R1 clocks repeatedly showing 8000rpm

Previously I thought that my clocks kept on showing 8000 rpm because my fuel sender was not attached.

Wrong! I attached an R1 sender and it still happens, only difference is that the low fuel light goes off.

Today I tried shorting the leads to the temp sensor, and this stopped the error signal, however I have the warning light for high temperature, which is extremely annoying.

Does anybody have any ideas? (engine and clocks are 2000 5JJ)

Thanks

James

Yamaha workshop manual indicates 'fuel level circuit fault' if the low fuel level indicator light is illuminated & the tachometer displays the
condition code.
8,000 r/min

Yeah it does for the 4XV, but in the supplementary manual which came out for the 5JJ (the 2000 onwards carbed R1), the error code for that is flashing of the low fuel light. There is no 8000rpm code for anything

Update from before: Even more puzzling is the fact that I have a 5JJ R1 engine, and 5JJ clocks (if these are indeed 5JJ clocks) -

However, the connection on the temp sensor on the wiring loom is original R1 loom, and does not fit the 5JJ thermo unit.
I am starting to think that the electrician has wired a 4xv loom with 5JJ clocks, somehow.

Could somebody show me a picture of the temperature sensor from a 4XV R1?

OR... A pic of a thermo unit from a 5JJ R1? (Incase I have bought the wrong one).
