StarterMotor Clicking

Hi,
I was hoping to turn over my zetec engine for the 1st time today. I am usnig a new lrs 707 starter motor.

At the momment when I turen the key it just clicks at me..

I have tried rocking the car ingear and tapping the motor with a hammer. I have also attached a battery booster.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers

Frank

Have you checked you have got a good earth? Try clipping a jump lead from the battery negative to the starter motor housing (but watch out for the live bit!!!)

Are you sure the battery's fully charged? Should read 13-14V on the multimeter.
HTH.

Sounds like low battery or bad solenoid.

Put a spanner on the front crank pulley bolt and turn the engine by hand to make sure the flywheel is clearing the starter.

I had one that wouldnt clear and jut jammed it up solid.

As said flat battery.

If you have tried a battery booster and still no joy you may well have a dead battery ie cell or cells down,no matter how much charging you give it its a dead un.

My tip,do not leave batteries on concrete floors for any length of time.
