Polo radiator switch pins- which is which?

Hi, I have three pins on the rad switch which screws into the rad. All take spade connectors but two are nor al size and one is small, if I am running a switched live to the switch, and then Running a cable to the fan, which should I connect up to? And what is the small one for?

Thanks

Mine only has two pins, both the same size. I dont think it matters which is which as it is just a thermo switch so all it is doing is connecting the two wires.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

the three pin ones do two temperatures on the switch, something like 88 and 94 degrees.

Not sure which is comon, i'd guess the small one. Can you not test it in a pan of boiling water?
