Premier Looms

What are these looms like? My Dads Spartan is in need of a loom, i've tried to refit the old cortina loom that was in his car, but the wires are all oxidised so getting poor resistance. Need to change the loom and i was thinking about a premier loom or some thing like it.

UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

Hi Mate,

That was what I used on my car and personally I thought it was excellent,I found the wiring quite straight forward,Every wire is colour coded and the relay set up is simple to understand.

Best money i spent building the MK was the premier loom, excellent piece of kit with very comprehensive instructions. Allways worth calling alan at premier to discuss exactly what you need regarding switch gear terminals, alan is very knowledgable and great with communications regarding any problems you may incur.

My loom came with relay plugs and fuse box pre wired so it really is plug and play, plus good lengths of wire/cable and all the terminals you need as well as a crimping tool thrown in.

I’d still suggest trying to wire it yourself, it’s not actually very hard at all when you break it down to just one system at a time. What’s more you will learn plenty in doing so and in the future will be capable of fixing it yourself. Really it’s quite a pleasant clean job for a change and very gratifying to see the car come alive.

Any wiring you get stuck just ask and many on here can draw up a diagram.

Problem with using production car looms is they tend to have far too many wire that are not used on simple kit cars and simple looms are the most reliable.

Really can't fault my premier loom, I bought it 5 years ago, and can still phone alan and beg for help when I have a stupid moment.

Worth buying a proper ratchet crimping tool though, makes the job so much easier.

If I could do mine again (and I might), I would buy one, rather than make it one wire at a time. I've done mine TWICE, and still ended up with spaghetti under the dash, with things coming off all the time. Buy one.

I would second that but only if you want to learn how it all works. If i had just wanted something to just get the car running, i would have gone the premier looms route

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I used the Premier loom and it was great. I sent all of my dash and steering column plugs to Alan and he even fitted them to the loom at no extra cost, which made the job even easier. Money well spent in my opinion.

Premier loom gets my vote as well but what switches are you using as the Premier loom is for Sierra switches and may not be compatable with Cortina switches?
