Locost Alarm immobiliser
I want an alarm for the locost aswell as an immobiliser. Has anyone tried one of
these?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I fitted a similar alarm costing about £30 to a friends car, car was worth less than a grand so the imobiliser was fairly arbitary. Alarm is good but
the imobiliser is easy to bypass, just cut one wire.
Didn`t fit the remote start as they are dangerous without a safety cutout (like autos have).
If you value your car i would fit a transponder imobiliesr as well, cheap, reliable and discreate.
Having fitted one to another friends car i can say microscan one is the best i have come across.

That alarm uses ultrasonic sensor. You want microwave for an open top car else it'll be beeping day and night!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

A friend of mine had rigged a system where he had to touch a bare wire lying on the floor to activate the ignition.
If you didn´t touch it the engine would crank and start while cranking, but die as soon as you released the switch.
If you did, the engine would start and keep running.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

It depends on if you want a deterant or protection.
Any cheapo alarm/imobiliser is a reasonable deterant (it bleeps, it has a flashing led and it false alarms every couple of weeks, if your lucky it may
even go off when someone tries to steal/break in!) so if thats what you want, a £30 special should be ok.
If you want protection, then you should consider an approved installed system, a simple toad or clifford arent too expensive, they (may) reduce your
insurance or and will (IIRC) pass IVA.
Fitteda thatcham approved Imobilisers are only about £100-140
