battery securing
I feel guilty for all my questions, but I'm psyching up for a big push on the build over christmas.
Trying to think locost now and avoid £30+ alloy boxes, can I mount my battery by wrapping a strip of metal around it and rivet that into the
scuttle?
I could wrap a strip of metal over the top too and rivet that into the panel the battery sits on?

some 90 degree angle ali rivited down to make a little square 'tray' on whatever banel you're securing it to, and then 2 strips over
the top and rivited down would do i think

Go to a scrapp, look for an odish vauxhall and get a batt mount. They clamp onto the base of the battery, pushing againts an up side down L shape
hook.
My batt is rock solid, took minutes to make up.

I have mine in passenger footwell.
There is an alloy box around ^^^^ similar to above but the full height of the battery plus a long long bolt inside a rubber hose for insulation going
over the top so battery cannot move in any dimension.

Length of 25mm angle slightly wider than the battery, drill through the angle either side this fits over top front edge of battery. Two lengths of
screwed rod fit through the above holes with wingnuts then drill holes into scuttle behind the front vertical of the battery so that the screwed rods
at about 60 degrees, simples.

I did the same as turbodisplay, free items from scrap yard and a rock solid battery.
Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

my car already came with a nice battery box welded in  just needs some sort of rod arrangement fitted. will just buy that from SHP i think

Split, I've done that and the battery won't move forward but does tip backwards as the scuttle is angled. Any hints ?

Are you OK putting it in the pax footwell before IVA or wil they fail it there on sharp edges?

Another alternative is a new punto battery tray from the scrapman, comes with a strap to tie the battery down.

My battery rests up against the firewall so no probs on that score spose the alternative would be angle front and rear of battery and restrainting bar
along top screwed rod vertical.
