Screenwash pump connection

I've got one of these beasties...



I have one problem - although it tells me where the water goes in and out, it doesn't tell me which electrical terminal is +ve and which is -ve.

I don't want to just try it to see which way round works...

Will it not suck instead of pump if connected the wrong way?

as a above ISTR it is a gear pump --- will pump the wrong way if polarity is reversed.
