CAN

Just checking I have got it right when it comes to CAN, An ECU that has CAN will send out the CAN info all the time. There is no need to ask for the data?
I guess that as higher priority messages will have dominance, means makes sense?

Thanks
Darren

It can work either way. Some messages are broadcast repeatedly. Some, you have to ask for and you get the response you want. Other ECUs are mainly listeners and don't broadcast data of their own or ask others for data all that much.

I take it that when a message is asked for, it will reply with a copy of the packet id, ie the same id?
Thanks for the reply btw.

Thanks

The emerald ecu is ment to work with serial and CAN. Tried to ask about the serial, but would not get a straight anwser, as if it is some trade secret! I did get CAN info so if I cannot get serial to work it will have to be a CAN/serial adapter.

Thanks
Darren
