Drilling UJ??

Now then, I'm not sure about this one...

Basically the magnet for my Ace is on the prop just behind the type 9. Nice rigid bracket holds the sensor above it.

Problem is the magnet has gone, objecting to 7500 revs....

I have a new magnet with a thread on the back...

Who would drill and tap the uj to take the screw in magnet??

What thread is it mate? I'm not sure I would in case it threw it off balance and caused vibration. However if it was quite a small thread m4 < I think I would if it was combined effort with a strong adhesive.

Think thats me sat on the fence

Cheers

Rich

If it's a small thread, M3-4 maybe then I'd be happy doing it. I would probably weigh the magent and look to fit a set screw of the same weight at 180 deg from the magnet (making sure the screw head is lower than the magent, don't want to trash the pick-up ) to keep it balanced.

Ideally I'd look to fit it to the diif's input flange which is not going to move as as the UJ.

Id weigh it and glue it on, and something of a very similar weight on the opposite side.

After my first one came off on the way to Silverstone last month I used epoxy and a cable tie [with the head of the cable tie opposite the magnet to give a bit of counter balance].

The cable tie is glued as well so I don't think it will come off now.

The magnet I used is a small one off a bike speedo.

If you are fastening it to the yoke at the end of the propshaft it should not affect the balance, all the flex is in the tube joining the two yokes together.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I would do it. I drilled the drive flange on the n/s rear wheel then tapped it to m6.
A bit of thread lock and bob's your uncle.
No probs in 3 years.

Actually Andy my uncle is called Chris, then there's a Jack, and a Joe, a couple of Johns but no Bob.

I would ask my great grandad if there was anyone else in the family called Bob, or even Robert (he used to live next door) but, as he was born in 1881 he hasn't been breathing for a while, 1975 to be exact, although I do remember him but he never mentioned anyone called Bob.

I have researched the ancestors of Rachel Wright (my great grandma)b.1883 and John (Reay) Robson (old granda as we called him) b.1881 and their family who lived in Lyons Street. Hetton le Hole. Rachel is descended from Jane Wright b.1789 in Byers Green via John Wright b.1842 and Isabella Barton from a Robert Barton b.1829 in Sheffield and Eleanor Blench b.1831 Northumberland.

My grandma b.1904 was called Isabella so the name was probably passed down from here grandma, or great grandma as the case may.

As you can see I need to go back to 1829 to find a Robert so that would make him a great great great great uncle 3 times removed on my mothers side of her granddads wife.

So, in essence, Roberts name was never passed down, to the Robsons anyway, can't say if there's any Bartons called Bob (or Robert) but they are too far removed I think to be classed as an uncle. Not even a special one really tbh.

Getting ready for the drive down to Stoneleigh by any chance?

LG,
Steve
