Vauxhall vs Ford Coil

I've been pressing ahead building a Megajolt / Edis system for my Jag.

Just thinking about the plug leads, to use the ford coil pack I'm going to need specials made up with the clip on bits for the posts.

What are the fittings on the vauxhall V6 coil packs? looking at some pictures, it looks like they are conventional push in fittings? If thats the case it would be cheaper to buy a Vauxhall coil, and use my existing leads, than buying custom leads.

Can anyone confirm the coil fittings? I'd guess they're same on the 4's.

There are two types of Ford coils, ones with the nasty clips to retain the HT leads and ones with conventional push-on type towers. They both use the same low tension connector.

I would use the coil that the EDIS is intended to drive. Vauxhall ones may work, but the chances are they will have a different resistance and inductance, so it may not be optimal.

Yes Mike, I thought about impedence etc, will see if I can find the specs, or just buy a cheapo of ebay and measure and compare.

I'd rather use the matching parts, but on the 6's even the duratec's have the clip in leads.

Ahh that's a bugger. You could use two 4 cylinder coil packs (using 1/2 of one) if you have the space?
