Buying a bike engine
Its almost time for me to buy my engine and having never bought an engine before, never mind a bike engine. what should I be looking for?
specifically im looking for a 08+ busa engine and im probably going to go to a reputable supplier (as in malc at yorkshire engines).
Looking around at different engines for sale, a lot of places offer 28 days warranty, is that standard? as im unlikely to have the engine running in
28 days so wont know until its too late that I bought a pos.
in other words i dont want to burn £3-3.5k on a duff engine, what can I do to avoid this?
Thanks

i would too love a hayabusa lump but always noticed they are dear to buy, why not try looking into kawasaki`s for £3.5k you can get a whole ZZR1200
bike on a 54 plate and know for sure that its running

well for a 2008 model am assuming the engine has come from a crashed bike and the things you would be looking is scratches and cracks, i dought you
would blow the engine before you crash it, you need to be screaming at 200mph to blow them things and even then they proberbly still wont blow.

I was up at Malcs ( Yorkshire Engines) at the weekend.
Your timing is spot on - I think he's just got 4 Busa's in stock.
One of them looks absolutely brand new and others not far off.
There is nothing this guy doesn't know about bike engines. I speak from experience - you can buy in confidence.

ditto with Malc, he guarantees the engine works. Definately the best way to buy if you dont want to gamble.

Malc is your man simple as that, in the very very rare event you have a problem with the engine you purchase Malc will sort it 110% to your
satisfaction.

Don't assume they are too expensive. I picked up a spare '99 engine complete with all anciliaries for £1120 on eBay and I've seen
others go for between £1200 and £1300. Just ignore the ebayers asking £2500 and bide your time.

Malc may not be as cheap as eBay, but definitely an assured buy
