Webcon Alpha ecu
I am currently running my Silvertop Zetec on 45's and Webcon Alpha ignition (silver kit). Although the car pulls very well and seems to have
plenty of power, it will not rev past 6200 revs, feels like a soft cut out is kicking in. I have read about only alpha agents being able to map the
ecu and that some of the earlier ones are obselete and un mappable. Thought about changing units but unsure to what. Would I be able to wire all
existing sensor equipment to a new ecu or have to have a complete new loom.Any advice greatfully received. Regards Jez

You could go in for a megajolt system, then you could program it yourself.
if you ring webcon with the numbers off your unit theywill tell you if it is programable.

Most ECUs use water temp , air temp ,MAP or TPS and crank sensor so your present ECU should have the wires going to it . Your new ECU should have a
new multiplug and cable connectors so it should be a simple matter of connecting the wires to the correct connection. I have used an Emerald ECU which
perhaps is not the cheapest but the backup from Emerald is very good and they are based in Wooton in Norfolk which isn't too far from you?

Thanks for reply. Would I be able to retain original TPS,Crank sensor etc, and wire to a new plug on megajolt or similar?

Thanks again must have been typing at the same time. I have only heardgood things about Emerald and the guy there is supposed to be a genius but
always stacked out with work. Well worth an enquiry. What do you think of the cheaper Megajolt , or more hassle than the are worth. Regards Jez

If you are running 45s (carbs) you don't need a full FI ecu, only need to look after the ignition which is what megajolt does, just need to make
sure you get sparks at right time.

But then again a well set up injection system is so much better than Webers and with bike TBs being so cheap , reliable , give as much if not more
power and better fuel consumption as well as not having to keep them in tune is it worth keeping the carbs?

Think you are right, I wouldn't have webers if I had the choice, in fact if it had to be carbs I would look at bike carbs before webers. FI
would be much better for the reasons you give.
Plus he will get some money back on the webers. and there is loads of info out there on megasquirt especially on zetecs so as he is looking at
spending money anyway then FI has got to be the way to go.
