Acewell and 4xv R1
Hello all, just wondering if the electronic speed output from a 99 r1 engine (4xv) is compatible with the Acewell 3252?
Thanks

Lee, all the info on the Acewells is on my webshop www.furoreproducts.co.uk, the following is from the FAQ's:-
Q:Can the speedo operate with existing electronic gearbox outputs?
A:The ACE-3251 & 3252 speedos & the 4XXX units can operate with gearbox sensors that generate a square wave output between 0 & at least
2.7V, up to a max of 12V. On some vehicles it is necessary to add a resistor or transistor to pull the output wire down to 0v in the offstate of the
output.
The models specified above can work with a maximum input frequency of 7KHz, square wave other models can work with a maximum frequency of 100Hz.
If you need to connect a different model to a gearbox speed sensor then a 5v voltage regulator, ripple counter & output transisitor will be
required. Alternatively, a speedohealer could possibly be used as an interface.
I can't tell you for sure if the 3252 will work with the R1, but I'm sure the info you need about the sensor output must be available
somewhere on the net or on one of the forums, perhaps this one! The above info comes from the Acewell from someone with a degree in electronics, so
whilst I may not be able to help directly if you get the info on the sensor I'm sure we can work it out between us! The only one I know for sure
it works with is the Fireblade.
If you need any more info just let me know
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Hi Lee
Just curious as to why you want to use the yamaha sender in the gearbox, surely it would be easier to use the acewell sender on the back wheel that
way you only have one calculation "the rolling circumference"

Thanks for the replies, just looking at options at the moment. Hoping to start sorting out the interior in the next few weeks
