Escort Ignition Wiring
Hi guys,
does anyone have any idea which wire is which on a mk4 escort ignition barrel?
This is what i have found so far:
RED = PERMANENT LIVE
BLUE/BLACK = LIVE ONLY WHEN IGNITION ON
BLACK = CRANK LIVE
YELLOW = ACC
i'm assuming 'crank live' is for the starter, what does 'acc' mean?
Regards,
Andy

Usually "accesories"
it's usually live when the key is turned 1 click on. But no ign lights.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

thanks, so there's nothing in a kit car that i'd require that for then i'm guessing.....!
why is this wire required anyway in a regular car?

Unless you have a powerpoint/cigarette lighter then probably not.
On the fords the radio would be controlled by this position of the key. you would not have been able to turn the radio on without the key.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
