Practical Classics Product Test "BEST BUY"
Practical Classics Test Engineer said of the Cut 40
"A really stable arc and power to spare meant that the Cut 40 zipped through our test panel cleanly with its simple dial control only half-way
round. Just under 6 Metres of torch lead makes this unit super flexible - and at 8Kg, it's no bother to move about the workshop......"
When featured in PRACTICAL CLASSICS magazine as part of a restoration project, journalist Ben Field commented:
"This is the modern marvel I mentiond in the introduction......... It made the job of cutting through the floor pans so easy it was
ridiculous.........The fact that the panel was caked with underseal and general cack on both sides makes the feat all the more
amazing..........Surely, the Plasma Cutter is the tool of the gentleman restorer, and all the better for it".
Boxford TUD lathe - £350
Largeish lathe similar in size to a myford 7, this variant has no screw cutting gear, comes with a 16mm tailstock chuck and full set of gear wheels
and cutting tools.
Off boxford site "Both the T and TUD plain-turning training lathes were dimensionally identical to the more highly-specified models and used the
same basic castings; however, they lacked any form of screwcutting, power feed and, more often than not, backgear. The rear-drive system usually gave
4 speeds from around 200 to 1200 r.p.m. - although the writer has seen examples with 2-step pulleys on motor and countershaft to give 8. The
under-drive models had 5 direct-drive speeds of 210, 340, 540, 850 and 1400 r.p.m. or, with backgear fitted, an additional 5 slower speeds. "

Got any pics of the lathe?
What is the max diameter through the headstock?
Whats the max diameter you can turn?
Will it fit in a car or would a van be required to collect?
Cheers
Ash.
