I have always used the Brodit range. Top quality and rock steady. I use
the BB one but my misses has the i-phone 3 version in her Landy and it is flocked so to not scratch

I have a Brodit one on my dash for the iPhone 4 also have a spare wired one with cig plug surplus if your interested.
The Brodit ones are top notch (reflected in the price) my spare one is to suit a iPhone 4 with a cover (gear 4 ones fit snug)

The one I have in the Dax is a simple holder with no power I use the USB cable as & when I need to, I have it in the horizontal / landscape
position with no problems, my gear 4 skin for the phone is rubber so it grips nicely and is held tight.
The spare one is this part number :516165 and is actually a pass through one, it had a fixed plug but you plug in the USB lead into the base and can
remove the iPhone without disturbing the cable. Yours for £40 if you want it.
