1997 Escort clocks?

Could I use the clocks from a 1997 Escort in my Zetec powered Indy? I'm looking for a cheaper alternative for the aftermarket clocks, and came across a picture of them (see below). I think they'll look nice when they have white faces, and perhaps some carbon or aluminium around them.

The tacho should be o.k., as the Escort uses the same ECU as my (Mondeo) Zetec. But I don't know about the speedo. Is it mechanical, electrical, and if yes (in either case), where should I get the signal from?!?!

[edit] I just found out that it is mechanical. Could I use the mechanical output from my Type9, or is it completely useless?? Does anyone know?

Just a point if the picture above is acurate then this speedo will only measure KPH you'd need Miles pher hour for the SVA.
That is ofcourse if your in the UK

Just notice the Location as NL so scratch last comment.
