Acewell or Koso
Afternoon all. Looking to to spend £200 to £250 on a new digi dash. I know Russ does a selection of Acewells and I think the one I want is about £200.
The equivalent Koso is £245 I think. Any views on which is better or any experience? I slightly prefer the looks of the Koso but that's not a
deal breaker for the Acewell.
Edit to say, Russ i think you posted as I was typing this!
Thanks
Dan

OK, obviously I have a vested interest here, but I can honestly say that the sales & service backup with Acewell is brilliant, I can get hold of
virtually any part, casing, wiring, sensors separately, so if you ever damage anything it doesn't mean trashing the unit.
Also, in the whole time I've been trading with Acewell I have had only one genuinely faulty speedo - that's a pretty good reliability
record!!
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Russ
On the version with the large speedo readout where is the rev counter? Also is the sole purpose of the remote for lap timing?

Hi
If you have the large speed readout, you can still display revs on the same scree in the smaller figures you see beneath the speed display - this can
be switched thro' clock, temp, revs etc. & you still have the graphic display of temp & fuel, you just don't get the rev counter
graphic.
It's a question really of whether you want a moving display of rpm or if you're happy with a digital readout.
From experience with the 3000 series which is a smaller screen you'd have no probs with the figure size in the display in either case, they
would be easily legible.

Cheers Russ. I think I prefer the small speedo layout version. I'll check the bank balance and drop you a line!

Acewell every time, I have the 3 series and a bright 6, at the time of purchase I was unaware of russbost's connection with Acewell otherwise I
would have gone for the model with built in warning lights,

Sorry to highjack the post, but I'm also looking for a new digi dash. I have a digi dash 2 in my other car but at 400 quid it's a bit on
the pricey side.
I was after a unit with built in oil pressure but as I understand it the Acewells and Koso's don't have this.
So the question is do I really need this option and I go with the acewell and should I fit a seperate oil pressure gauge??
Cheers,
neil

Acewell don't do anything with oil pressure, don't think Koso do either & so far as I'm aware there is nothing cheaper than the
digidash that does, tho' quite prepared to be corrected on that.
TBH I always feel that a pressure switch & light, or 2 with different tripping pressures, is better in most ways than a gauge, after all, the time
you're most likely to lose pressure, under prolonged fast cornering, you're not very likely to be looking at the gauge anyway, but you
can't miss a light coming on!
Still a lot cheaper than a digidash to run an Acewell & a separate gauge if you want one!

Not tried Acewell, but I've been very happy with my Koso - it has 2 temp sensors so I can do oil and water temps, which I like a lot.
