Rebuilding an alternator.

My Transit Connect alternator is making a bearing noise but still works ok. Is it feesable to just replace the bearings and where could I buy them from. The local Motor Factors are not much help. Quoted me £190 for a recon unit. Thanks.

Yep, take it to bits being careful of not damaging or loosing any of the bits, take the bearings out, go down the bearing shop and buy some new ones. Much cheaper than your rip off motor factor..

Have a look at the brushes while your in there and replace them if they look worn or burnt.
