Testing my loom.
I have just finished installing the loom on my Rush and I am testing it with a knackered old 12v lawnmower battery (only going around 10v) on the
basis that if anything is too wrong it won't go too badly wrong with a low power battery.
Amazingly the headlights work (dimly), dash lights work, rear lights work, fog lights work - in fact the only thing that doesn't seem to work
are the indicators.
Now on the rear I have LED indicators - is it that the battery isn't powerful enough to get the flasher relay working or do I need a different
type of relay if I have LED indicators somewhere in the system??

Should still work even with led's, I'd be looking for something not in the right place, are you trying the indicators with out anything
else on? Good job on the rest of it though

Depends on what flasher unit you have.
You probably got a standard one, and LED units dont draw enough current to make them flash at the right rate.
They may flash very fast if anything at all, or just perhps solidly on.
You will need ballast resistors to sort it, or get a non load dependent flasher unit, which are for LED lights.
IF... You use Ballast resistor packs, remember they are providing a load equal to the bulbs, and thus draw that amount of current.
thus they will get HOT. So DONT tape them up in the wiring loom. Put them somewhere where they have a little ventilation to dissipate the heat.
Its not a big issue, but needs to be done correctly if you dont want it to become a bigger problem. Worst case is a fire in the woring loom caused by
overheated ballast packs.
BTW... these ballast packs are NOT the ballast resistors for Ignition coils.
If I was using LED indicators I would get the correct flasher unit, rather than the part fix using ballast resistors.
Something like this:

Or this

So make sure you get it right.
EDIT:
Also remember that you need to have the flashers to flash at the right rate or it will fail IVA and possibly even the MoT.
