Zetec PATS into Sierra Column

I'm trying to fix my Zetec PATS immobilizer into my sierra column but the transceiver is a bit big to fix nicely against the column.
I've got a key with the red immobilizer section in it.

There's not enough space between the transceiver and the wipers mechanism at the top of this picture which I've marked rather poorly in red

Where am I best to trim? The column or the transceiver?
Does the round plastic part of the transceiver contain the "aerial" for the immobilizer in the key?

I've got a windscreen on the car so I need the wiper switch on the column - removing that is not an option.

I'm following the "big_wasa" install manual that says:
"The ring sit's around the ignition switch and is held to the steering column with one screw"

Any ideas?

On the mondeo its held with one screw. On the sierra I just rotated it around where you have it now until it cleared every thing and held it there with a blob of PU.
