Sierra to MX5 column change
Folks, I've got my eye on a Premier Sierra loom for the Roadster, but run a MX5 steering column with it's switch gear.
Has anyone done this conversion? or how hard to we see the change being?
Regards Dan.
The less I worked, the more i liked it.

I fitted an MX5 column to my kit during the build.
It mounts differently, the first part of the column is much shorter and the UJ's are a different size to the Ford. The outer column is also much
thicker so caused problems getting it at the right angle above the chassis over the pedals.
The Haynes guys, and Road runner racing end up with 3 UJ's. I chopped mine about and extended it using a CBS splined extension threaded, tapped
and tigged.

The lower part of the column as it comes through the pedal box is supported with a bearing from simply bearings.
Let me know if you need more details.
To be honest if I was doing it again I wouldn't bother as it was a lot of work for a slightly nicer column switch!

I have a fully function steering system already, it was the electrical side of the conversion I was curious about.

These things in the end are just simple on off switches or momentary switches (in the case of headlight flashers) or in the case of the indicator a
on-off-on. A simple chart mapping each function to each wire colour old and new is what you want. The rest is a documentation job and some logical
probing with a circuit tracer from maplin (or the like) and then fill in the table.
