GPS receiver mounting

Trying to work out where to mount my GPS receiver (for my race technology dash). I reckon here looks OK:

but it will be covered by the fibreglass scuttle, and has a tube in front of it which might interfere with reception? Anyone got any experience with mounting these - does this look OK?

When i bought my car, the previous owner velcro,ed it onto the top of the roll bar and ran the wire behind the side panel trims. Looked quite neat

Yeah, RT suggest the roll bar. Then again they reckon it will work better if it isn't under fibreglass which seems incredibly over-conservative so not really sure how their advice is very sensible on this one.

Trouble is it's round so I would have to weld a flat tab on top, and it won't be as neat. It's an option though.

Seemed fine at Bedford yesterday. I did lose signal on the way there driving under tunnels and trees, but only momentarily. Will probably leave it be unless it causes any more significant issues.
